SUBJECT: GOJ REQUESTS STATUS REPORT ON JORDANIAN PRISONERS
AND DETAINEES IN IRAQ

1. (SBU) This is an action request. See Para 4.

2. (SBU) Jordan's MFA sent to the Embassy on August 28 a
diplomatic note requesting a status report on Jordanian
prisoners and detainees held in Iraqi jails.

3. (SBU) Begin text of note:

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs presents its compliments to
the American Embassy in Amman. It hopes to convey to the
Embassy the desire of the Government of the Hashemite Kingdom
of Jordan to know the fate that awaits the Jordanian
prisoners and detainees in Iraqi jails. The government
desire is based on the 1963 Vienna Agreement for the
Consulate Relations.
