SUBJECT: AU JAN 27 - 31 SUMMIT: Tanzanian Participation

1. Per reftel, post contacted Tanzanian Ministry of Foreign
Affairs regarding Tanzania's delegation to the AU Heads of
State Summit meeting in Abuja January 27 - 31. The Ministry
confirmed that Foreign Minister Kikwete would attend the
Summit, but could not yet confirm whether President Mkapa
would attend, or who else would join the delegation. Post
will advise Department if further information becomes
available.
