SUBJECT: ACTION REQUEST: COUNTRY CLEARANCE FOR REAC ROSEMARIE
ARENS TO TRAVEL TO COLOMBIA (APRIL 10-22, 2005)


1. Clearance is requested for Regional Educational Advising
Coordinator for South America Rosemarie C. Arens to travel to
Colombia.

2.Ms. Arens will assist with the country workshop for
Colombian
Advisers that will be held in Armenia from April 12 through 14,
2005 where she will make several presentations.

3.Ms. Arens also plans to visit the educational advising
centers
in the Armenia, Bogota, Cali, and Medellin binational centers as
well as the Fulbright Commission and COLFUTURO. At each BNC
site, the REAC will assess the educational advising center's
needs as well as evaluate its management and services in
terms of criteria for affiliation of the educational advising
center with the Department of State. She also expects to
meet with the educational adviser and binational center
executive director at each site to discuss the evaluation and
any REAC recommendations that result from the visit.

4.In Bogota, Ms. Arens would appreciate a meeting with the
PAO
and CAO at their convenience to discuss educational advising, as
well as appointments with the appropriate officer at the U.S.
Consulate and the Commercial Section to discuss topics
relevant to educational advising work.

-- Arrive Bogota at 14:07 pm TACA Flight TA 0132 from Lima.

MONDAY, APRIL 11, 2005
-- Depart Bogota at 11:00 am AVIANCA Airlines Flight AV9941 and
arrive Armenia at 11:50 a.m.

SUNDAY, APRIL 17, 2005
-- Depart Armenia at 12:05 pm AVIANCA Airlines Flight AV9942 and
arrive Bogota at 12:55 p.m.

MONDAY, APRIL 18, 2005
-- Depart Bogota at 07:15 am AVIANCA Airlines Flight AV9203 and
arrive Cali at 08:15 a.m
-- Depart Cali at 17:25 pm AVIANCA Airlines Flight AV9218 and
arrive Bogota at 18:20 p.m.

TUESDAY, APRIL 19, 2005
-- Depart Bogota at 08:00 am AVIANCA Airlines Flight AV9324 and
arrive Medellin at 08:55 a.m.
-- Depart Medellin at 18:20 pm AVIANCA Airlines Flight AV9321 and
arrive Bogota at 19:05 p.m.

FRIDAY, APRIL 22, 2005
-- Depart Bogota at 15:58 pm TACA Airlines Flight TA0133 and
arrive Lima at 19:00 p.m.

6.Ms. Arens requests that hotel reservations for her be made
for
the nights of April 10 and from April 17 through 21 in Bogota.
Reservations for lodging in Armenia will be made by the
educational adviser handling reservations for the advising
workshop. Ms. Arens also requests instructions regarding
arrival and transport from and to the Bogota Airport.
