SUBJECT: Child Marriage Response for Czech Republic

1. The legal age of marriage in the Czech Republic is 18 for
both girls and boys. Under special circumstances, a minor
over the age of 16 may be given permission to marry by a
court; without court consent, such a marriage is invalid.

2. While there are some reports that the country's Roma
population marry younger than the legal age, underage
marriage is not a significant problem in the Czech Republic.
