BILATERAL AVIATION AGREEMENT

1. Post has received a diplomatic note from the Ministry of
Foreign Affairs designating Varig, Tam, Varig Logistica, and
ABSA as Brazilian carriers under the bilateral aviation
agreement to operate routes between the United States and
Brazil. An informal translation of the note follows.

2. Begin text of note:

Urgent
DSF/47/ETRA-BRAS-EUA

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has the honor of informing
the Embassy of the United States of America, at the request
of the Brazilian aviation authorities, of the designation of
the following Brazilian companies to operate routes between
Brazil and the United States, under the terms of the current
Airline Agreement between the two countries:

VARIG - Viacao Aerea Rio Grandense S.A.
TAM - Linhas Aereas S.A.
VARIG Logistica S.A.
ABSA - Aerolinhas Brasileiras S.A.

The Brazilian aviation authorities also request that the
previous designations for Brazil be considered invalid.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs would be very grateful if
this information were transmitted to the north-American
aviation authorities.
