1. POLOFF delivered demarche (reftel) on July 18 to MFA UN
Affairs Director Ismat Jahan. Mrs. Jahan had no substantive
response.

2. CDA delivered demarche to Foreign Secretary Hemayatuddin,
who said that Bangladesh has not yet formulated their position in
regards to the G-4 resolution, but took note of the US concerns
and our request to vote against or abstain should a vote be
called. He expressed the notion that the best outcome would be
to avoid taking a vote at this time.
