Oman News Agency (ONA) and national print and broadcast media
reported July 8 a statement from the Ministry of Foreign
Affairs condemning reports of the murder of Egypt's top
diplomat in Iraq, in tandem with the Ministry's reaction to
the London terror bombings (reftel). The relevant text of
the ONA report is as follows:

An official spokesman of the Foreign Ministry yesterday...
condemned the abduction and assassination of
ambassador-designate of Egypt to Iraq Ihab Al Sherif by
insurgents. In a statement, the Sultanate expressed its
condolences to the family of the diplomat and government of
