Deputy EconCouns delivered Reftel demarches on 9/7 and 8/29,
respectively. Foreign and Health Ministries confirmed to
Deputy EconCouns on 9/8 that the GOP is committed to joining
the International Partnership on Avian and Pandemic
Influenza. No cases of Avian Flu have been reported in Peru,
but the GOP has taken steps to combat the threat and is
highly motivated to collaborate with the USG. Septel will
address the GOP's existing Avian Influenza action plan, steps
GOP has taken so far, and suggestions for collaboration
between the USG and GOP.
