AUTHORITIES AGREED TO THE TEMPORARY EXTRADITION TO
SPAIN OF FERNANDO SILVA SANDE, THE ALLEGED LEADER OF
SPANISH LEFT-WING TERRORIST ORGANIZATION "GRAPO"
(GRUPOS DE RESISTENCIA ANTIFASCISTA PRIMERO DE
OCTUBRE), (OCTOBER FIRST ANTI-FASCIST RESISTENCE
GROUP). THE GROUP IS RESPONSIBLE FOR A TOTAL OF 82
MURDERS, THREE KIDNAPPINGS, NUMEROUS MINOR BOMBINGS AND
SEVERAL BANK AND ARMORED VEHICLE ROBBERIES). IN SPAIN,
SANDE SERVED AN 11-YEAR SENTENCE AND LATER RESUMED HIS
TERRORIST ACTIVITIES. HE WAS ARRESTED AND SENTENCED
AGAIN IN 1990. IN 1992 HE MANAGED TO ESCAPE FROM A
LOCAL PRISON IN GRANADA. IN 2000 HE WAS ARRESTED IN
PARIS AND SENTENCED TO 10 YEARS FOR TERRORIST
ACTIVITIES.
