SUBJECT: SOUTH AFRICAN HUMAN RIGHTS CERTIFICATION AND
VETTING REQUEST FOR DECEMBER 1-10 TRAINING

1. Embassy Pretoria has checked its files and finds no
credible information regarding gross human rights abuses by
any of the officers of the South African Air Force's 28th
Squadron:

- Col. Gabriel Stephanus Steenkamp (South African ID number

- Lt.Col. Hans Jurgens Prinsloo (South African ID number

- Capt. Schalk Willem van der Walt (South African ID number

- WO1 Jacobus Hendrik van Rooyen (South African ID number

2. The officials listed above are scheduled to attend the
C-130 Simulator Training at MacDill Air Force Base
in Florida from December 1st through the 10th.

3. Embassy Pretoria requests Department vetting of the
officials listed above for attendance at the C-130 Simulator
Training Course.
