1. The U.S. Mission Abuja appreciates the National
Institutes of Health's (NIH) patience concerning the
Mission's reply to ref proposed research project.
2. The U.S. Mission Abuja has reviewed ref proposed NIH
Research Project No. AI069919 01 -- to be carried out in
part in Nigeria. The Mission agrees to the study with the
provision that the Principal Investigator (PI) of the
project first receives written clearance from the Government
of Nigeria (GON) at the federal level and that the PI shares
via an NIH cable to the Mission the outcome of his or her
discussions with the GON.
