Embassy delivered reftel demarche to MFA International
Organizations Department Deputy Director Saleumsai Kommasith
May 26. After hearing our points, Saleumsai responded that in
general his government strongly supported UN reform. On
specifics, however, he was less committal, noting that the
Lao government was "continuing to study" the management
reform agenda and had not yet decided whether to support the
package of reforms detailed in the Secretary-General's
report. However, he promised to convey our talking points to
the Deputy Foreign Minister for consideration.
