1. (U) The following is a provisional list of participants
for the GOP's delegation at UNGA. The GOP plans to have
confirmations and further information about its participation
by mid-August.

A. Attendance of the Head of State:
-- President Anibal Cavaco Silva: No plans to attend UNGA.

B. Attendance of the Head of Government:
-- Prime Minister Jose Socrates: Plans to attend UNGA,
schedule still to be confirmed. No interpretation necessary.

-- Arrival, departure, and spouse participation information
is not available.

C. Attendance of the Foreign Minister:
-- Foreign Minister Luis Amado: Plans to attend UNGA, still
pending confirmation. No interpretation necessary.

-- Arrival and departure dates, spouse attendance, other U.S.
stops, and debate participation have yet to be confirmed.

D. Portuguese delegation: Portugal plans to send between
eight and ten delegates to the UNGA meetings.
