(SBU) Pol/Econoff delivered reftel demarche to Faruque Omar
Faquira, Head of the United Nations Department in the
Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Faquira said the GRM was still
considering the efficacy of creating a new global forum for
the discussion of international migration issues, something
that GRM officials would discuss in meetings in upcoming
weeks. Faquira (please protect) expressed his personal
opinion that creation of a new forum was less desirable than
working through and improving existing institutions. Embassy
will relay any further info Faquira provides on the matter.
