1. Econoff discussed reftel with MFA Legal Affairs Law of
the Sea officer Frederic Lepez August 29, following earlier
inquiry with MOT Maritime Affairs International Affairs
Office Director Daniel Silvestre. Neither was aware of any
GOF position on accession to ReCAAP, but said they would make
further enquiries to establish where France stood on the
issue.
