SUBJECT: Taiwan to Set up Trade Representative Office
1. Taiwan's Executive Yuan (EY) will set up a Taiwan Trade
Representative (TTR) Office, likely in December 2006. The TTR will
be responsible for all trade negotiations and is modeled on USTR,
according to Connie Chang, a special aide to former Economic
Minister Morgan Huang.
2. The TTR will be headed by Vice Premier Tsai Ing-wen, with
Economic Minister Steve Chen serving as Deputy. Initially, the TTR
