M.M. Jafeer, Chief of Protocol at the Sri Lankan Ministry of
Foreign Affairs via diplomatic note on October 12. Econoff
telephoned Secretary Rangasinghe on October 16, and he
confirmed that Sri Lanka plans to support the U.S. for
re-election to the International Telecommunication Union
(ITU) Council and the U.S. nominee for election to the ITU
Radio Regulations Board (RRB). Sri Lanka's delegate to the
ITU Plenipotentiary Conference in November 2006 will be
Kanchana Ratwatta, Director General of the Telecommunications
Regulatory Commission.
