2. SUMMARY: Embassy Science and Technology Officer Ayanna
Hobbs met with MOFA on 18 October to review details on the GI
Morocco meeting (reftels). Japan raised additional questions,
provided the CV of Japan,s head of delegation, and commented
on its expert-level briefing proposal. END SUMMARY.
Japanese Questions

3. Japan asked if there would be a meeting with journalists
and whether we intended to issue a press statement after the
meeting. Japan made it clear that they would have to approve
the language in any common statement before they could agree
to its release.
4. Japan asked if it should reserve its own hotel rooms.
Embassy officer explained that she understood travel and
accommodations were each delegate's responsibility. However
Japan seeks further clarification.

5. MOFA has changed its travel itinerary to arrive in time to
attend the Russian embassy reception on Sunday, 29 October.

Expert-Level Briefing

6. MOFA appreciates Washington suggestions on Japan,s expert
level briefing. It will inform Washington of its final topic
after conferring with other Japanese government agencies. As
part of its presentation, Japan will include information
regarding a seminar co-organized by the Government of Japan
and the IAEA on 8-10 November 2006 entitled Seminar on
Strengthening Nuclear Security in Asian Countries. The
purpose of the seminar is to increase the awareness in the
Asian region on the need to strengthen nuclear and
radiological security.
