SUBJECT: Sudan: MFA Advises of Lifting of Travel Restrictions for
U.S. Citizens and USG Officials

1. On November 30, the Embassy received a note verbale from the
Ministry of Foreign Affairs lifting the 25-mile travel limit placed
September 27 (reftels) on all U.S. citizens in Sudan, other than
those assigned to the mission.
2. The text of the note verbale, received in English, is as
follows:

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of the Sudan
presents its compliments to the Embassy of the United States of
America in Khartoum and with reference to the Ministry's Note verbal
No. MFA/AMER/7/1/1/277 dated 26th September 2006 regarding the
restriction imposed on the movement of all U.S. citizens traveling
to Sudan within the limit of 25 mile radius from the Republican
Palace in Khartoum, has the honor to convey to the esteemed Embassy
that the above-mentioned restriction has been lifted with immediate
effect.
