MFA.261/328/301A MINISTRY OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS

The Office of the Great Lakes Region, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of
the Republic of Kenya presents its compliments to the Embassy of the
United States of America and has the honour to forward an invitation
letter to the Regional InterMinisterial Committee Meeting (RIMC) on
11th December, 2006 from the Hon. Minister for Foreign Affairs of
the Republic of Kenya to the United States Secretary of State of the
United States of America.
The Office of the Great Lakes Region, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of
the Republic of Kenya avails itself of this opportunity to renew to

REGIONAL INTER-MINISTERIAL COMMITTEE MEETING (RIMC). 11TH DECEMBER.
2006
As you are aware, H.E. President Mwai Kibaki will host the 2nd
Summit of the International Conference on the Great Lakes Region
scheduled to take place in Nairobi from 14th to 15th December, 2006.

The Dar-es-Salaam Declaration of Principles on Peace, Security,
Democracy and Development for the Great Lakes Region mandated the
Ministers of Foreign Affairs to evolve concrete, measurable and
achievable Plans of Action to operationalize this Declaration. The
Ministers are therefore expected to present the programmes of
Action, Protocols and Projects on the Thematic Areas, all leading to
the adoption of the Pact on Security, Stability and Development, as
well as the way forward on
implementation.
I am pleased, therefore, to invite you, Honourable Minister, to the
Regional Inter-Ministerial Committee Meeting that shall preceed the
Summit, to be held in Nairobi on 11th December, 2006.
12th December, 2006, is Jamhuri Day, Kenya's Independence Day and we
shall be honoured to have you as our State guest at the Independence
celebrations in
Nairobi.
I look forward to welcoming you to Nairobi.
