(SBU) China will research and consider the United States'
views concerning UN personnel reforms, MFA International
Organizations Department UN Division Director Yang Tao told
poloff in response to delivery of reftel points. Poloff
emphasized the financial, legal and administrative burdens of
some of the reform proposals in the Redesign Panel report and
urged China's careful consideration. Admitting he was not
fully familiar with the topic, Yang agreed to review the
issue and provide a more complete response soon.
