(SBU) Jeremy Armon, designated DFID point of contact on
Partnership for Democratic Governance (PDG) matters, informed
us August 24 that the UK does not plan to become a founding
member of the PDG. Armon cited the volume of issues DFID is
already working on as the reason, but said DFID looks forward
to seeing how the initiative develops and wished it success.
He said DFID will continue to keep in touch with the PDG as
it moves into the implementation phase. Armon responded
after circulating Ref A points and Ref B draft Declaration of
Principles within HMG.
