SUBJECT: ARGENTINA: URGE BEIJING SUPPORT FOR ONE-YEAR
MINUSTAH MANDATE RENEWAL

REF: A. SECSTATE 141295

B. BEIJING 6535

(SBU) PolOff discussed ref A demarche with Secretary Pia
Poroli in the MFA's Office of International Organizations.
Poroli stated that the MFA fully supported the one-year
MINUSTAH mandate renewal and was aware of the PRC's position.
Poroli said the issue of how to encourage Beijing to support
a one-year MINUSTAH mandate renewal was currently being
discussed in the MFA at the senior level but could not yet
tell PolOff what actions the MFA would take. We will follow
up again with the GOA shortly and report back as appropriate.
