Organizations and Treaties Office Director Isaac Sebulime on
October 29, stressing the importance of the initiative to the
U.S. and to the credibility of the UN. Sebulime shared
initial concerns over language that could have linked
"uncontrollable militia activity" to African governments, and
wondered aloud if the resolution was really necessary.
Sebulime, however, signaled GOU openness to work to reach a
consensus within the Africa Group.
