1. Post has received the following responses to the invitations to
Brazilians to participate on a panel or in a plenary session at the
Washington International Renewable Energy Conference (WIREC 2008):

ACCEPTED: Jose Sergio Gabrielli de Azevedo, President of Petrobras,
Brazil's state-owned oil company

ACCEPTED: Silvio Crestana, President-Director of EMBRAPA, the
Brazilian Agricultural Research Corporation

REGRETED: Professor Jose Goldemberg

REGRETED: Minister of Science and Technology Sergio Rezende

REGRETED: Minister of Agriculture Reinhold Stephanes

3. Agriculture Minister Stephanes has proposed that Manoel Vicente
F. Bertone, the Secretary of Production and Agroenergy, Ministry of
Agriculture, replace him at WIREC. The Embassy supports this
proposal.
