Ambassador met February 25 with Acting Foreign Minister Pires to
push the case for Timor-Leste's rapid recognition of Kosovo's
independence. Pires said she was unable to offer a substantive
response regarding Timor-Leste's position. Pires acknowledged,
however, the urgency of the matter and committed to raise the
issue promptly upon the return of Foreign Minister Da Costa
(expected today) and with the Prime Minister. Ambassador will
follow up with the Foreign Minister as well.
