Poloff stressed with both Julian Juarez Cadenas, the Foreign
Ministry's Deputy Director General for UN-Related Security
and Legal Issues, and Armando Vivanco Castellanos, the
Foreign Ministry's Deputy Director General for Human Rights
and Democracy, on April 23, the importance the U.S. attached
to support for the US-EU sponsored Prisoners of Conscience
Declaration at the upcoming UNGA meeting. Both assured poloff
that the Government of Mexico would analyze whether Mexico
would co-sponsor the declaration. Embassy will report any
further response.
