SUBJECT: DEMARCHE RESPONSE: BURMA CONFERENCE

REF: A. STATE 55244

B. BANGKOK 1568

(SBU) Thailand shared our commitment to provide aid to the
victims of Cyclone Nargis and anticipated that the May 25
Burma Donors conference in Rangoon would address USG concerns
outlined in Ref A, MFA Senior Burma Desk Officer Jirusaya
Birananda told us on May 23. Foreign Minister Noppadon
Pattama still planned to lead the Thai delegation to the
conference (ref B). While the Thais had yet to receive a
formal agenda from the Burmese government, Jirusaya
understood that various Burmese ministers would brief
participants on their respective ministries' areas of
responsibility with regards to the official response to the
disaster.
