INTER-AMERICAN CHILDREN'S INSTITUTE

1. On September 9, we received a diplomatic note from the MFA
requesting support of Mario Viquez Jimenez, the GOCR's
candidate for the Inter-American Children's Institute, during
elections to be held October 15-16. Relevant text follows.

2. BEGIN unofficial translation of diplomatic note:

"The MFA has the honor to inform the Embassy that Costa Rica
has decided to present Mario Viquez Jimenez as candidate for
President of the Executive Board of the Inter-American
Children's Institute for 2008-2010, in elections to be held
October 15-16, 2008, in Ottawa, Canada, during the
Institute's 83rd Meeting...The GOCR seeks the support of the
U.S. for this candidacy."
