SUBJECT: SINGAPORE HAS NO PLANS TO PROVIDE ASSISTANCE TO
GEORGIA

REF: SECSTATE 100093

(SBU) As of now, Singapore has no plans to provide
assistance to Georgia or to attend the Georgia Donor's
Conference in Brussels, Lawrence Anderson, Director, Europe
Directorate, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) told E/P
Counselor September 26 in response to reftel demarche seeking
economic assistance for Georgia. In a follow-up conversation
on September 29, MFA Europe Deputy Director Lynette Long told
Poloff that Singapore's "Georgia Policy" is still being
developed, and that there is no sense of immediacy or urgency
in regards to Singapore's relations with Georgia. "Georgia
is a long way from Singapore and we are much more focused on
what's happening in our own neighborhood," Long said.
