1. (U) On September 17, Poloff delivered reftel requesting
support for UNAIDS Executive Director candidate Michel Sidibe
to Vesna Vukovic, head of the MFA's UN office. Vukovic
thanked us for the information on the candidate, indicated
the MFA would take note of the US position, and said that his
candidacy would be reviewed by the MFA. As of September 17,
they had not yet made a decision on their candidate. Poloff
will report any future response in a follow-on cable.
