1. Post delivered ref talking points to the Ministry of Foreign
Affairs (MFA) and Ministry of Agro Industry on November 25.
2. In a follow-up conversation on November 26, Premila Appadu,
Second Secretary in the Bilateral Directorate at the MFA requested a
few days to review the proposal with other GOM ministries
(principally Agro Industry and the Ministry of Finance).
3. Ms. Nathoo, Principle Assistant Secretary at the Ministry of
Agro Industry, stated in a follow-up conversation that the GPAF is a
"laudable initiative" but reiterated the importance of coordination
between relevant ministries before giving an official response. Ms.
Nathoo also mentioned that Mauritius is looking at the Euro 1
billion EU Food Facility which is aimed at boosting agricultural
production in developing countries as well as other initiatives
related to food security concerns in the region.
