CHANGE ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE

1. On November 26, Post received a response to reftel
demarche from the Environment Ministry Climate Change
Director and Chief Negotiatior Pavel Zamyslicky. The
Ministry's independent climate change unit was created in
2003/2004. When Zamyslicky assumed his position in 2005, the
unit consisted of seven to eight internal and external
experts. Since 2006, the Ministry gradually increased the
size of its climate change team to the current 25 members in
preparation for the Czech EU Presidency. The Deputy Prime
Minister and Environment Minister Martin Bursik, who is the
Green Party Chair, has made climate change a Ministerial
priority.
