SUBJECT: LATVIA STILL NOT FOCUSED ON BIOFUEL SUSTAINABILITY
REF: STATE 123492
1. PolEconOff delivered reftel points to Juris Stalmeisters,
director of the MFA Economic Relations Department and discussed with
other officials from the Ministry of Environment and MFA. There was
no substantive response. As in previous discussions of biofuel
sustainability, the GOL has demonstrated that while they are
interested in potential biofuel projects in the future, they have
not yet developed a formal position on sustainability.
