1. (U) Embassy Singapore received the following Diplomatic
Note dated 24 October 2008 from the Ministry of Foreign
Affairs of the Government of Singapore.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Singapore
presents its compliments to the Embassy of the United States
of America and has the honour to refer to the recent election
of Singapore's candidate, Mr. Khoo Boon Hui, Commissioner of
the Singapore Police Force, to the post of President of the
INTERPOL Executive Committee.

The Ministry wishes to convey Singapore's sincere
appreciation to the US for supporting Singapore's INTERPOL
bid. As the new President of INTERPOL, Mr. Khoo will work
towards extending INTERPOL's growth and global influence.
Mr. Khoo will also pay special attention to facilitating the
sharing of best practices and experiences, developing
co-operative linkages between police agencies, and offering
training opportunities to enhance the operational
capabilities of member countries' national police forces.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Singapore
avails itself of this opportunity to renew to the Embassy of
the United States of America the assurances of its highest
consideration.
