1. (SBU) Ministry of Defense Bureau of Finance and Equipment,
Equipment Policy Division Deputy Director Takeshi Kawamura
confirmed the details of the order of 20 Model QA-700
accelerometers (Honeywell Part No. 979-0704-001 IAI Part No.
1321.1080.00.00). The DOD ordered 10 Azimoth Indicators
under a FY 2007 Contract Number 20314 between Mitsubishi
Heavy Industry and Japan Air Self Defense Force (JASDF).
Delivery is due February 27, 2009. Each of the 10 Azimoth
Indicators requires two accelerometers, which totals the 20
ordered from the U.S.

2. (SBU) As of December 9, JASDF has not received any of the
accelerometers, as the manufacturing process is still
incomplete. During manufacturing, the articles pass through
a value-added process that includes Honeywell International,
Israel Aerospace Industries, Hitachi Ltd. (Totsuka Plant),
and Mitsubishi Heavy Industry (Nagoya Plant), after which
they arrive at JASDF. Currently, fourteen articles are at
the Hitachi's Totsuka Plant, and six are at Israel Aerospace
Industries Ltd.
