SUBJECT: LAUNCH OF GCC ECONOMIC FORUM WEBSITE

1. (U) Post is pleased to report the launch of a "GCC
Economic Forum" website, designed to enhance information
sharing and collaboration among Econoffs and other USG
economic officers focused on Arabian Peninsular affairs. The
URL for the unclassified website is:
http://www.intelink.com/communities/state/gcc .

2. (U) This initiative is the outcome of a regional meeting
of Econoffs and Treasury personnel held in Manama in May
2009. The website will include SBU and unclassified cables,
noteworthy news items and links to USG and third party
resources on economic topics concerning the nations of the
GCC and Yemen.

3. (U) Embassy Kuwait -- in partnership with the IRM Bureau's
Office of eDiplomacy, GCC posts and Embassy Sanaa --
developed the site. We are currently working with our
partners in the region to develop the site's content further.
Posts in the region will alternate responsibility for
managing the site, which will be updated on a weekly basis.
