1. Econoff met with Deputy Directors Shunichi Inoue and
Satoshi Teramura of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Economic
Affairs Bureau, Economic Security Division to deliver the
letter and points contained in Reftel. Inoue confirmed that
the GOJ is supportive of the U.S. approach to combating
global hunger. They intend to include points in line with
the five principles of agreement contained in the Partnering
for Food Security proposal in the GOJ address at the November
16-18 food security summit. The GOJ has not yet determined
who will attend the November 16-18 food summit in Rome.
