1. (SBU) The Embassy received on January 8 a diplomatic note (dated
January 4) from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International
Cooperation of the Republic of Mali in Bamako. The note seeks the
USG's agrement for the appointment of Mamadou Traore as Ambassador
Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Mali to the United States of
America. The diplomatic note enclosed a copy of Mr. Traore's
Curriculum Vitae (scanned and e-mailed to AF/W - Emily Narkis).

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the
Republic of Mali presents its compliments to the Department of State
of the United States of America and has the honor to bring to its
attention that the Government of Mali has the intention to name Mr.
Mamadou Traore as Ambassador Plenipotentiary and Extraordinary of
the Republic of Mali to the United States of America.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the
Republic of Mali would appreciate it if the Department of State of
the United States of America communicated the advice of the U.S.
competent authorities on this proposed appointment.

Attached please find the curriculum vitae of Mr. Mamadou Traore.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the
Republic of Mali takes this opportunity to the Department of State
of the United States of America assurances of its highest
consideration.
