SUBJECT: Romanian Contribution to Haitian Relief Efforts

1. EMBOFF discussed reftel points on January 20 with Mihaela
Rutjens, Director of the Developmental Assistance Directorate at the
MFA. On January 19 Romania decided to donate EUR 50,000 to Haitian
relief efforts via the World Food Program. The funds will come from
the GOR's special humanitarian assistance budget of EUR 385,000.
Additionally, Romania has 21 police officers serving with the UN
Mission in Haiti; all were unhurt and will remain at their posts.
