1) Killers of UN aid workers may be tried in Jakarta for security 31/10/00 (Lusa) Indonesian police will ask that the trial of six militiamen accused of the recent killing of three UN refugee aid workers take place in Jakarta rather than in West Timor for security reasons, the Indonesian news agency Antara reported Monday.

2) Responsibility for destruction should not be individualized - Xanana 31/10/00 (Lusa) Gusmao was queried about whether he believed Eurico Guterres, leader of the notorious anti-independence Aitarak militia, should be brought to trial. "Eurico is a piece in this game. Some Indonesian generals should also take more of the blame than Eurico", he replied.

The delegation will observe the progress of the UN Transitional Administration in East Timor [UNTAET] in preparing East Timor for independence, Eckhard said.

5) Peacekeepers return from E Timor after bus crash 31/10/00 (ABC) Australian Army peacekeepers injured in a bus crash in East Timor will arrive in Darwin tonight with their regiment. The 200 members of the 6th Battalion Royal Australian Regiment will dock in Darwin aboard HMAS Jervis Bay.
