Khamenei Says Nuke Backdown is a Reversible Deal

Khamenei: Iran-EU Agreement on Nuclear Issue A Diplomatic Victory against "Zionist- US conspiracy"

The Iran supreme Muslim leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has asserted that the Islamic republic's agreement to comply with IAEA demands over its nuclear energy programme was not a "surrender", and warned the country still reserved the right to pull out of the deal.

In his first public comments on a European-brokered agreement for Iran to boost cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency the leader stressed the country had scored a diplomatic victory against the "Zionist- US conspiracy", adding that "there was no surrender in it".

Sayyed Khamenei warned the Europeans that they also had to live up to their commitments - namely the eventual provision of technical nuclear assistance if the IAEA deems that Iran has cooperated. Meanwhile "Israel" continued its anti-Iran campaign.

An Israeli official accompanying Prime Minister Ariel Sharon on a three day visit to Russia said that "Israel" wants the International community to keep up the pressure on Iran over its nuclear program.

"Israel" wants Russia to do everything possible to prevent the transfer of technologies on Uranium enrichment and fusion. It claims that this constitutes a strategic menace for it. Russia is building Iran's first nuclear power reactor at Bushehr, which has been fiercely criticized by Washington and "Israel".

Iranian foreign Ministry spokesman Hamid Riza Asefi said Sunday the Uranium enrichment activities are still in their early stages, adding that Iran has agreed to voluntarily suspend this, but not stop." Iran has repeated it has no plans to develop nuclear weapons, and is only interested in the peaceful use of nuclear technology.

The chief of Iran's national security council Hassan Ruhani has canceled a planned visit to Moscow Monday. The Iranian embassy in Moscow declined to provide the reason for the cancellation or whether Ruhani will reschedule his trip.

There was speculation in Moscow that the cancellation was due to a visit by Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon, who arrived in the Russian capital on Sunday for a three-day visit.
