Death of Simon Wiesenthal - Condoleezza Rice

Death of Simon Wiesenthal

Statement by Secretary Condoleezza Rice
Washington, DC
September 21, 2005

I am saddened by the death of Simon Wiesenthal. For over 50 years, he played a central role in the investigation of Nazi war criminals and Holocaust research. In addition to his efforts to commemorate over six million Holocaust victims and to seek justice for survivors, Mr. Wiesenthal will be remembered as an eloquent spokesman against anti-Semitism and racism and for using the Jewish experience in World War II as a lesson for all humanity.
