Top UN Envoy Condemns Killing Of Parliamentary Candidate In Afghanistan
The top United Nations envoy in Afghanistan today condemned the killing of a candidate in the parliamentary elections held on 18 September and called on the authorities to swiftly bring the perpetrators to justice.
A spokesman for the UN Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) said Secretary-General Kofi Annan’s Special Representative Jean Arnault urged the Afghan authorities to carry out a thorough investigation.
The murdered candidate, Ashraf Ramazan, was from the northern province of Balkh.
