New kids club on Norfolk Island

Norfolk Island raises its stakes as a family holiday option with the news that New Zealand’s closest international holiday destination now has a resort hotel offering day-time child care.

South Pacific Resort is Norfolk Island’s only family-owned resort and it has recently opened the Buka Kids Club for children aged between five and 12 years.

Norfolk Island is an idyllic sub-tropical holiday destination less than two hours from Auckland on twice-weekly Air New Zealand flights.

At South Pacific Resort’s Buka Kids Club, young in-house guests can enjoy a range of indoor and outdoor activities designed to help parents have a day to themselves and a peaceful night.

Included are games, mini-golf, nature walks, craft activities, movies, feeding ducks and geese and a mini tour just to name a few. While lunch and morning and afternoon teas are provided in the cost, some activities do attract a surcharge.

Buka Kids Club is open from 8.30am until 4.30pm initially on Mondays’ Wednesdays and Fridays and caters to a maximum of 10 children at any one time.

South Pacific Resort has a special Kids Club introductory rate of $50 per child per day which can be booked with any of the hotel’s activities.

About Norfolk Island: Discovered by Captain Cook in 1774, Norfolk Island was first settled as a British penal colony in 1788 through to 1856. On June 8, 1856, the island was re-inhabited by a community from Pitcairn Island, descendants of the Bounty mutineers and their Tahitian companions. Known today as Norfolk Islanders they form a majority of the 1,800 resident population. Norfolk Island is renowned for its spectacular coastal scenery, colourful history, sporting and cultural activities, convict heritage and tax-free shopping.
