Spanish attorney injured in Bil'in

On Friday the 16th of December Attorney Anna Maria, 61, a Spanish peace activist, was injured in the village of Bil'in near Ramallah during a nonviolent protest against Israel's Separation Wall and settlements.

She was standing on a ridge in the village's farm land when she was pushed off by an Israeli soldier. Maria suffered two fractures in her shoulder. She was rushed from the scene in a Palestinian ambulance to Sheik Zaid Hospital in Ramallah where she was treated and released this morning.

"I will continue to support Palestinian nonviolent demonstrations against the illegal annexation Barrier," said Anna. She intends to re-join next week's demonstration with her arm in a brace.

In addition to Maria, eight protesters were injured and four Israeli activists were arrested. One Palestinian was detained and beaten during the protest, but was released.

The village of Bil'in has become a symbol of Palestinian nonviolent resistance to Israel's barrier. The route of the Wall in Bil'in is designed to annex land for the expansion of the Metityahu Mizrah settelment, the largest illegal outpost in the West Bank.
