Tufele Liamatua to head American Samoa’s status study
commission
The Manua District Governor in American Samoa,
Tufele Liamatua, has been selected as the chairman of the
Future Political Status Study Commission.
The commission
is to study and make recommendations on different forms of
government that are available to American Samoa which is now
an unorganised, unincorporated territory of the United
States.
Senator Tuaolo Fruean is the vice
chairman.
Chairman Tufele says they have agreed to seek a
60-day extension to the deadline to submit their report, as
they have had a late start.
The group was to complete its
report by July the
31st.
