Fiji Tourism industry wants multi-party govt to work

The Fiji Hotel and Tourism Association has appealed to President Iloilo to do everything in his power to ensure the survival of the multi-party government for the future stability and prosperity of the country.

The Fiji Times reports that the petition to the president was one of the resolutions at the associations’ annual meeting.

Its chief executive, Mereani Korovavala, says the success of the multi-party government is vital given the optimism in the country towards the concept and the perceived climate of political stability it promises.

She says it must work because 30% of Fiji’s gross domestic product is derived from tourism which employs 45,000 people and is the driver of Fiji’s economy.
