Remarks with IAEA Director General Mohamed ElBaradei Before Their Meeting

Secretary Condoleezza Rice
Washington, DC
October 23, 2006

(10:15 a.m. EDT)

QUESTION: Madame Secretary, your reaction to the expulsion of the UN envoy from Sudan?

SECRETARY RICE: I'm going to talk to Kofi Annan about this later today. The situation in Darfur has been deteriorating and the international community needs very much to be able to act there. So I'll try to call Secretary General Annan a little bit later on.
