Kazakhstan announced own vision on future development of Asia considering creating stability “belt” on Eurasian continent.
“I`m convinced that the success of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-building Measures in Asia (CICA) as a continent-wide structure and a platform for a long-term interaction can be regarded as a basis for the establishment of an organization on security on the vast Asian territory”, Nursultan Nazarbayev, Kazakhstani President, said during at the opening of the Ministerial Meeting of the 63rd session of United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and Pacific on Monday in Almaty.
Leader of the country that demonstrates the annual economic growth rates averaged 10 percent for the last seven years stressed that high economic activity increasingly leads to consequences for industrial production.
In light of this he highlighted and important role of the ASEAN, the SCO (Shanghai Cooperation Organization) and the CICA in dealing with contemporary challenges and threats.
“I believe that we can ourselves solve our problems in Asia”, Nazarbayev mentioned.
In this context he noted Kazakhstan`s application for membership in the ASEAN Regional Forum on Security (ARF). “I`m sure that our participation in the Forum will open up new prospects for interregional cooperation and will create favourable conditions for future formation of the “Eurasian belt” of security ARF-CICA-OSCE”, Kazakhstani President underlined.
Kazakhstan plays crucial role in stabilizing Central Asia sub-region, which is strategically important in terms of geopolitics and global energy market, security and stability in a major part of Eurasia.
“We are well aware that in the context of globalization no country in the world is capable to deal alone with new challenges and threats of modern times as well as to solve its economic problems. That is why Kazakhstan has put forward a proposal to create a Union of Central Asian States”, Nazarbayev said.
